I always planned to have 2 so the controller I fitted is 25amp.

Thumbs Up sorted then

I always thought it was such a waste of free power when my caravan was stood in the yard at home and the on board batteries are full up so I've fitted a set of leads from the batteries to an Anderson plug outside the van so I can plug jump leads in etc to charge additional batteries or power anything else you might have! 1997 Ex-MOD 110, Pop Top Camper, build thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72352.html

As you say, may as well use free energy!

I originally put it on for a 7 day camp on top of Alp D'Huez for the Tour de France (strangely enough that's today!), but have yet to actually get over to watch. Craig Rogers

Some excellent advice and links on this chaps Thumbs Up

Defo solar is the way I'm going I looked into a 3rd battery but space is limited on the 110 for a permanent install and I don't fancy changing the aux battery whilst camping as its tight with my under seat setup.

As said on my post I don't want fixed panels as they will get in the way on the rack so any advice on the eBay setup or should I make up my own foldable set using two say 100w panels and a controller with the ability to expand the system later?

Cheers. Formerly mao99999

For occasional use, I have a 50w panel that has it's own stand and security cable attached. I plug it in to the permanently live 12v socket that I've added by the rear speaker and padlock it to the tow bar or similar. Darren

We have just got back from a weeks caravaning in deepest North Yorkshire without the use of 240v supply.
We use a 43 watt solar panel which is connected to 2 x 110v batteries through a regulator. As e didn't need the vehicle during the day the solar panel lived in the roof of the Land Rover to do away with the constant "chase the sun" routine.

Can I add a word of caution if permentantly fitting solar panels to the roof of a vehicle or caravan/motor home.
A good friend who has a 110 for his business and it is kited out with a bank of batteries and a converter to give hime 240v in remote areas is on his third set of panels as they do not like hail stones. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
