I have used a "Kestrel DAS-6 'Power Plus' Dual Action Polisher" on my green 110 with some "Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover #1" - looks like new, you can spend ages on these jobs ...

Washing up liquid is good if you want to take the wax off to give it a good polish. Assuming it has been waxed that is. |

Well, I came home tonight and the kit was there waiting for me! A little present from Dad, which was actually quite a smart move, as I've got to do his D3 now as well An engine to TDi for!

MK1 - I don't doubt your right but the problem is people that do often just wash it with it and that's it they don't do any waxing or anything else to it. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I gave mine the full AutoGlym treatment a couple of weekends ago:
rinse / soap wash / rinse wheel clean / de-tar / polish alloys / dress tyres engine bay clean / rinse / protect clean & polish door edges & shuts / under bonnet vacuum / blow out with air-line & carpet clean clean & treat all interior trims leather clean & protect de-tar every panel + wipe down with isopropyl alcohol touch in a couple of stone chips used paint renovator on a few scratches soap & rinse again clay + rapid detailer (amazing how much grime & tar was still there) resin polish window clean & rain-x (the only non AG product I use) treat all exterior plastics / rubber / bumpers high gloss protector stand back and admire (then a Blackbird lands on the roof rack and lightens its load before take off!!!!!!!) took the best part of 2 days in all but still looks amazing weeks later. So in my opinion, the AutoGlym Clay Bar Kit is excellent as are all their products. (my brother has used AutoGlym in his auto body shop for years). Thanks for the replies everyone. Last weekend I cleaned both the Discovery 3 and the Freelander 2 (Defender was being serviced).
It went like this... Wash with Autoglym shampoo Wash wheels with AG wheel cleaner Dry off Engine bay clean up Clay bar and rapid detail spray (That stuff smells so nice ) Autoglym Rinse off AG High definition wax AG Glass polish AG trim renovator gel AG Tyre dressing AG Alloy wheel protector Hoover inside Clean dash etc. Took most of the weekend, but is well worth it! I was utterly amazed with the Clay Bar kit. I wasn't particularly optimistic because it looked clean already, but my goodness it worked wonders! Now I ask people to feel how smooth the paint is An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

I did mine around a week ago, using a Clay bar kit for the first time. Admittedly not AG but Meguire's for me and the results were excellent.
Would recommend doing it to anyone and it's really easy nothing to worry about. The more you get into doing it and get one with it rather than thinking about it the better job you do IMO just don't spray say a whole bonnet as you won't get it done in time. Just a small section at a time. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
