Had an offroad course Yesterday to get to know the basics of offroading. A full day of learning and I'm glad I did it. So much too learn and I now know how capable my car can be. Things like how to quickly put your car in reverse when you can't make it up the hill, how to choose the right gear for the right ascent or decent, crossing ditches and how to drive through mud so you get stuck!
I now hope some sort of prepared for the event.

Tis pretty hot here. Our dutch contingent have arrived safe and sound, only to realise they forgot their tent poles. Quick trip to town should have sorted that. Drive round course is sorted and should be fun. Right, back down to the river I go.....

I think it's fair to say that an excellent weekend was had by all.
The setting, preparation, organisation, hospitality, advice, drive round course, team building challenges, demonstrations/talks, lanes, banter and even the 'interesting' micro-climate weather were all straight out of the top drawer. It was great to meet some new faces both on/off this forum and indeed, to catch up with people I've met before. PM Jnr and I took plenty of pics, although a good number will be discarded for being absolute rubbish (enthusiasm making up for lack of skill) and I'll post up a selection in the coming days. A huge thank you to James, Mark, Tim, the trio of Davids, Jim, and all the other participants for making it a really cracking weekend.
PM Jnr claims to have video footage on his Ipod of MM's 110 towing the 'anchored' Land Cruiser.... Further investigations underway ! Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |
