I've suffered from it since sitting at Brands Hatch for the Trans-Atlantic challenge back in 1987, it was my first attach and I went off to the medial tent to get help. They said they're not really geared up for Hayfever, they're more into broken stuff and gravel rash!.
Anyway, it's a case of trial and error. Some things will work for you and others won't. It's not the sneezing or itchy eyes that bother me, it's the huge fatigue that comes with it. Being a printer it's not a good idea to be working huge machines while feeling knackered. This year I've been taking Cetirizine Hydrochloride, £1 for a weeks worth at Tesco (and probably all the others as well) but last year it was Loratadine, just depends on what works for you right now. A couple of years ago I found not taking anything helped the most! I give the three-a-day jobbies a wide birth because it works out to be too expensive and needs me to remember to take them. But, they do offer you a bed-time boost if you get attacks in the night. Just remember to take them regularly, it's regularity that beats the symptoms, not a crash course. It's worth having some eye drops handy for emergencies (having just said it's not about crash course medication I'm now suggesting exactly that.  ). Almost everything I've read on it seems to be rubbish, staying in during the summer (honestly, you want me to do that?), eating locally grown honey, wear a hat, wash your hair often, sunglasses etc, all rubbish.

Couple of myths perhaps.....
Eating local honey on a regular basis is supposed to build up your immunity to hayfever. Try smearing a smidge of vaseline up each nostril. Apparently it traps the pollen spores. If things are that bad what have you got to lose? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

The pollen count must be high this year I am having a few problems, feel like scratching my eyes out at times and breathing is a big problem and my asthma inhalers don't do much good. I haven't suffered with Hay Fever since 1960 when I was eight and I thought I was past getting it again. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

Fortunately it's only grass pollen that seems to start me off, so I only have a 3~4 week period of red eyes/tingly nose and sneezing.
At the moment cheap supermarket antihistamene seems to be keeping it at bay, but I seem to get immune to certain brands over the year, so by next year I'm sure I'll need something else. But seeing as the hay/silage seems to be almost finished here, my nose is much better. |

Cetrizine seems to work best for Wifey but you have to take it at night for best effect - the German doctors insist on this...
Wifey's identical twin in the UK was taking it in the morning with little success until she switched. Now much better - seems convincing  Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

tried almost everything with no success, i just feel knackered and less motivated. very torturous when you see everyone in your house sitting in the garden enjoining the sun and am the only one thinking whether to take claritin tablet or not to take a bloody claritin sh@**, really annoying

The wife had a great problem with pollen, tried everything, she was constantly coughing and sneezing, the cough caused her to be sick sometimes violently so she went to the GP who prescribed antihistamine even though she told him that it would not work and it didn't so he sends her to local hospital. The consultant asks what she is taking and what she has took in the past and prescribed antacid tablets and that has stopped the coughing, sickness and sneezing but not the itchy eyes. It appears from what he said,the pollen gets into the throat and is injested into the stomach which intern causes the cough and the sickness. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off.
