I made my own with some thick foam and some vinyl material that matched the original. I will freely admit that it's nowhere near as nice as one of Matts' and it's obviously not leather, but it's functional and cost next to nothing.

Same positive comments from me re: FCX kit.
I can also confirm that, having done a few 300 mile plus trips recently, the padded lid puts it at the right height to act as an armrest, mine is fractionally higher again because Matt increased the height of the wooden cubby box feet to clear the satnav control unit which now sits underneath the cubby box rather than inside as before. Rob ps. A gas strut for the lid is a nice touch too (a shade more robust than the LR technical solution of a black ribbon) |
