We had a look for you, as we were heading out of France, but didn't see you.
Is LM a big 'p155 up' as everyone makes out? I hear that it's actually ruined the event? Though I think I'd prefer the classic event anyway? |

Ah would have been good to spot you!
It can be a bit of a big pi55 up depending on where you stay and what you do... If you camp at Maison Blanche like us then yes, it's a massive drinking session with people riding around on minibikes, motor scooters, exotic cars etc doing hilarious things and having a blast... Outside there's always a burnout session on the tarmac, but (unlike in the Autocar article I read) it's not overwhelming and people aren't forced to do anything. I stood there for two hours and didn't see many drivers go by who weren't smiling at the spectacle! So no, it doesn't ruin it at all! It's an amazing experience - two years on a row I've been now, and next year should be three I'd recommend it - but if you want to avoid all the shenanigans, you can do what my old man does and stay in a "gite" or a hotel and drive to the track when you want to see some racing. The classic is also good fun though. Just not quite as big as the race Geoff 2007 Defender 90 Click image to enlarge |

Well back from the trip, firstly i was well impressed with the fuel usage, since Pete at BAS done the upgrade map i managed to do 320 miles on three quarters of a tank prior to filling up for the return trip back to blighty....
Just a few snaps of the trip, some lovely motors Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Ive never been before, but a great time was had, shame about the weather and the Danish driver that passed away RIP, never take driving for granted........ I got the tent for free from a colleague, but it turned out to be a Jeep branded tent... So I painted over the "Jeep" with some anti-rust primer I had in my toolbox and wrote a crude "Land Rover" next to it Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Got a bit drunk and decided to decorate the sliders... I'm either watching black smoke pouring out the exhaust and wondering if we'll make it... Or in the process of telling James (the guy wearing the woman's hat) not to take my photograph Geoff

Lovely pics...the "camping" looks a bit like the "Top of the mountain" camping area at Bathurst (1000).
Cheers, Pickles. |
