Would this radio fit into the defender?
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...65474#tab1 Cheers, and how hard is it to get the cover off and fit the radio, no previous ICE experience! |

Hi Louis
Yes it will fit & yes pretty easy BUT I do not think it has speakers fitted so you wiill also need those as well. What I do not know is if wiring is already in to speakers I would hope so but you never know with LR penny pinching Love the wheels. I saw your post & it convinced me that black wheels are the way to go 2020 P300 HSE |

Looks nice, is that from Westovers by any chance? if so have a word with Stuart (if he's still the salesman down there) he may well be able to sort out a deal for you.

After buying the radio, halfords didnt have a clue where to start fitting it.
Took it else where and they said i needed some sort of converter for the wires, and for it to be fitted aswell would cost about 70 quid, are they taking me for a walk? |

Yes. You can probably buy an adapter on eBay or make one up yourself. The Defender end is standard ISO. I'm not the brightest spark in the fire but even I've done it a few times (including Sony) on various cars. Admittedly, if your going the DIY route, it helps if you can do some basic soldering. Trick is to take your time and consider it a challenge Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I thought all stereos were standard iso leads.
Hope a member near you could perhaps have a look normally very simple just plug in but as mentioned before sure LANDROVER base spec had an aerial but no speakers 2020 P300 HSE |

e.g. Defender (2 x 8 pin ISOs) adapted to (16 round pin) Kenwood:
http://www.popscreen.com/p/MTM0OTE3MTE0/KE...-LEAD-eBay or to (16 square pin) Alpine: http://www.car-hifi-radio-adapter.eu/en/ca...o-iso.html etc. Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Notice your in Oxford... If you wanted I could have a look for you? I assume you have found that your 2.2 Puma doesn't have ISO connectors?

Hi Steve - like the new Avatar (I know I'm probably a bit behind the times ) I still have the original LR (with Aux) HU (I even have a spare) and the Kenwood sub and it still sounds perfect to me. Thumps quite adequately at 160 km/h Have they really stopped using ISOs on the 2.2s? Edit* DOH - does OPs Defender even have a loom??? Tell someone you love them today because life is short. I've uploaded some photos just to show what ive got coming out, and what needs to go into the back of the radio. Its booked in for that 70 quid job on tuesday, so anyway of doing it before then for cheaper will be welcomed with open arms

It looks like the radio already came with an ISO adapter... but LR have done away with the ISO plugs at the Defender end
Does the 70 quid include fitting and wiring all the speakers (front and rear) as well? I think that would be a good deal Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

1 - I do apologise I read the location of someone else's profile by accident. 2 - The Sony HU will / should have a female ISO connector. The LR is the problem you will need a LR specific plug / socket to ISO to fit the HU. There are members here that have bought the relevant cable. IIRC nothing is released yet specifically for the Defender. 2.2 however I believe a Ford Fiesta adaptor works. (Can only give vague detail I'm afraid. If need be I can see if I can ask for you though and get back to you? KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
