Switzerland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
3rd Swiss Series Meeting July 12-15
Was invited by my local dealer to come to this event organized by Les Series en Helvetie on the opposite side of lake Geneva in the Jura Mountain National Park. Probably will attend as Series/Defender meetings here are few and far between, unlike in the UK.
Has anyone on here participated in that show in previous years? Worth your while? And is anyone here planning to attend this year?
Here is their website: www.series-helvetie.ch You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I went to the last one in 2011 - and it was great fun, a long way from the UK driving a 1957 Series One, but well worth the effort. As you will know, the scenery is stunning, and we were given special permission to drive up in the Jura Mountains which was fabulous.

The event is based at a Swiss Army training area, showers etc are available in the main barracks down the road, but portaloos etc are on the campsite. As with Les Temps Des Series (French Series Club) events, on the Friday night, everyone brings some regional food from where they live for a communal 'buffet', which is good fun. Other meals were provided as part of the entry ticket. There was also a large off road play area that we had access too.

I travelled with some mates from the UK, and for us the journey there and back was part of the fun too.

I just found out that the real Series Helvetie event in Bière is strictly limited to Series I, II and III. Defenders are not welcome at all. Big Cry A pity, because from the pictures on their website of last years event, it is a very nice greenlaning day that they hold in the Jura mountains.
I was a bit mislead by my LR dealer who hold their own event for all their clients at the military base in Bière side by side with the Series Helvetie event, but this one is a real off roading event with LR assistance. Which is not my piece of cake. I actually have some questions about how many Geneva Land Rover buyers really are interested to get their FFRR, RRS, D4s, Defenders, and other cross axling and clad with mud. I wonder if the main purpose of my dealers is to see all their clients line up for expensive repairs the week after... Rolling Eyes You never actually own a Defender. You will have to get a 'series'. As you say, the greenlaning up in the Jura mountains is fantastic, we were only allowed access on permission of the local mayor I believe. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I was in touch with the event's organization by e-mail. They hold this event for Series every 2 years, but each year in between they hold the event for Defenders. Thumbs Up
So don't have to get a Series now, just have to wait 1 year. Whistle You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Ah - that might explain why its a bi-annual event (for Series) then. Its run by the "Land Rovers of Switzerland" club, and I am sure they are not a totally 'series' based club. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....
