Just wondering if it's worth re-fitting my turbo heat shield
It's been off for months now (and the turbo bolts are still in) and nothing seems to have melted etc. It has a big crack in it too. Does it have another function? It's vital as it moderates the warp flux output when in hyperdrive Steve.

Just divert main power to the deflector array and you'll be fine.

In some situations it may have some effect, so I experienced... (lost my heat shield long ago)
Was driving some small lanes high in the Alps once, so high revving, low speed thus no cooling from moving air under the bonnet. After some time I stopped for some minutes, and when I wanted to start again the starter solenoid would not engage, probably due to overheating (from heat radiation from turbo and exhaust). After cooling down for about half an hour (with bonnet open), it started again, and no problem any more. Which is precisely my question...
The Puma turbo is pretty much stuck out into open space and out of the way of anything heat sensitive - apart from your hands if you want to test whether it's hot ("wet paint" mentality) Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
