Hahaha well said, Rakthi. Actually KL traffic is great training ground for other famous "mad traffic" places. Went to the US for business meetings in Feb. Took a week off after that and drove to NYC. Of course the universal advice is to ditch the car and not try driving in NYC. I found KL traffic training prepared me perfectly for NYC driving. I easily coped and trumped even yellow cabs doing 80km/h down Broadway! BTW insanely envious of you living in LGK! Wow! Nice! So the running in regime I am following is a moderate version of "drive it like you stole it".
Basically the focus in the first stage (up to 1600km) was to: - not lug/labour the engine - not exceed 3800rpm - minimum 2500rpm in each gear, with regular pushes out to 3800rpm - frequent firm 1/2-3/4 throttle application within the above rev limits - no extended runs at a constant speed, always varying speed where possible - always using gears to slow the vehicle, lots engine compression braking Second stage (1600km - 8000km) is similar to the first stage except now permitted to go frequent firm use of full throttle and occasionally using full rev range instead of limiting to 3800. The vehicle is now nearing 2500km. And fuel figures look like this: to 1000km - I was using 13.332 litres/100km (21.2 mpg) 1000 to 1500km - 13.618 l/100km (20.7 mpg) 1500 to 2000km - 11.244 l/100km (25.1 mpg) So I take it that the last figure, a leap in improvement, despite the harder driving - means I am doing something right! At least I hope so. Proud new owner of a 2013 DCPU (SALLDHSR7DJxxxxxx) - "Manny" (from "Ice Age") |

Hi Tact
Seems like you are running similar figures to mine. Although I started out at about ±12 liter/ 100km (but then no traffic jams to speak off here in Langkawi and darn difficult to find a road long enough to reach 120 Km/hour . After the Bas remap I now average about 10 - 10.5 l/100km. Truck has almost 8,000 Km on it. Bas remap done at 6,250 km. But as mentioned above, no traffic jams and no highway stuff. For comparison, my wife's Kia Picanto averages out at 9.5 l/100 km (automatic and airco on all the time) |

My wife's Hyundai accent runs about 10.5l/100km. With me getting low 11s and diesel price 10sen selitre cheaper than petrol the running costs actually favour the 110. I was surprised pleasantly there.
The KL traffic jams mean low range gets used for short distances, but maybe up to an hour duration, nearly every day. Proud new owner of a 2013 DCPU (SALLDHSR7DJxxxxxx) - "Manny" (from "Ice Age") |
