Cheap & Quick alternative to powering my Engel?
I've decided I'm taking the Sankey away next weekend, and although its got a Waeco aboard powered by battery's and solar panels I want to take my Engel too and keep that in the Defender. Time is short, so which is the best way to power it without mega ££££'s on a split charge.....and quick given the timescale

You've pretty much got it sorted. Why do you need to charge it on top of what you've got? Whack a couple of ice packs in it if you've room? Or take a generator, should you have one.

depends where you are going, if it's a camp site get a hook-up, otherwise consider a small petrol generator

I plan to be properly self sufficient. Next month I'm off to RIAT where we camp in a Armers Field along the runway. No hook ups there.

What year is your Defender? If it's MY12 or older then there will be permanent live wires behind the cover for the rear RH light cluster. Install a cigarette socket using those wires and plug your fridge in there. Eventually, it would drain your battery but as a quick and dirty solution it would be fine for a couple of nights. I powered my 60l Engle in exactly this way last weekend whilst camping at Dunsfold. Darren

The feed is in my 2008 110, it can be reached by either removing the rear off side speaker and reaching in or by removing the whole plastic fitting.
One purple cable and one black cable with clear/white plastic fitting that takes normal spade sittings. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
