I'm going to fit a car PC in my 110 SW and after having seen this pic....

....I was wondering about fitting it under the rear seats. Does anyone have a picture of what is inside here? Are there braces/supports etc, and whats at the bottom?

Sorry I can't help you on the seat box as I have a 90 but when you mention a "car pc" what exactly do you man you want to fit presides the obvious? What exactly is it / who is it made by?

I've got an 'in-carpc' PC, similar to http://www.in-carpc.co.uk/c3-series.htm. Lilliput screen to be mounted on a Ram mount, either off of the dash or up from seat/cubby box area.

Just looking for a good place to mount the PC itself, along with all the associated cabling. Also got a few Phidget devices in a housing that's roughly the same size. My Disco 'best bits'

Ah very nice. Something interesting to look at for once. Thumbs Up Ideally could you not do with a screen in-dash for it to display on? Thumbs Up And see what you mean that certainly needs somewhere clean and dry to be mounted. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

This is the underside but on a 130 Hicap as in your first post I think 110SW is different.

Thanks for the replies.

I've already got the screen (the whole PC setup is from my previous car), so I don't really want to buy an in-dash screen. With the Ram mount I can position it for driver or passenger.

Thanks for the pics Thumbs Up On a SW the top of the seat-box runs back into the load area. It doesn't seem to be removable in the same way, meaning it will need cutting in position. Obviously I don't want to weaken it or cut in the wrong position. I'll need to get a few cables into it too. Also, I want to add a few 12v sockets and USB sockets in the front face for rear seat passengers. My Disco 'best bits'

This might not help but.

I bought a toughbook mount and mounted a toughbook here.

Wired it in to my screen under the matts and up behind the dash

Taken before i ran the wiring in, bought a cheap usb gps ariel which is mounted ontop of the bulkhead behind the seats
( magnetic)
The toughbook can be locked into the mount or easily removed if required, connects to iphone for on the move internet. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

You're right Wink Good to 'see' you again Thumbs Up

That's a good idea - again, if I didnt have the PC already....

I've just found a sticker-covered hole in the seat-box. Took a torch out, peeled the sticker back - I didn't need the torch, I can see the ground under the car Sad . If it wasn't pi**ing down I'd have a look underneath. My Disco 'best bits'

If you have a cubby box, would it be possible to raise the height, create a frame and sit the car-pc under the cubby box? Maybe make the cubby hingable so you could tikt it up to get to the car-pc ?

You would need some ventilation for the car-pc and then you are closer to the battery, and closer to the monitor so less cable to run ? 1999 Defender TD5 110

A good idea Thumbs Up I'll size it up. I think the number of cables may be an issue, but I'm not familiar with Defenders yet, so may be proved wrong.

The other option would be to fit an enclosure under the seat-box, rivet and seal it in place, and then cut an opening above it. I'll have a look underneath in the morning. My Disco 'best bits'

You could do this with the plate under the cubby IMO all be it with slightly less room. I think there is photo's in my gallery somewhere. Just remove the plate and copy it for size and current fixing points but make a box of it. (I think you know what I mean)

I had a carpc in a previous Defender and after that in a Disco 2. In the Defender I made my own cubby box and made a false floor with the carpc underneath it. Worked a treat! 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

I've got an MDF speaker box up in the rear roof of my 110 (had it in my 90 as well), full width of the body, is about 14" deep.

holds my 6x9's amps and voomPC carpc box.

There's nothing under the seat-box in a 110 SW, it's basically the floor of the car.
