Carling Contora II switches
Are the standard on/off switches OK for Rear fog/hazards/demister? (Rear fog and demister I guess are OK) but not sure on Hazards? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I tried to hook the rear fog up to one on mine, and lets say it wasn't easy... Problem being is that the standard rear fog switch on my 300Tdi (and I assume the early Td5s) , is a biased off switch (it's spring loaded into the off position). When set up on the carling switch, there effectively became 2 on positions! (Push once to turn on, then push again and it stayed on, then push again and it went off.) I couldn't get my head around it, so got the auto spark in who changed the relay to a standard relay, and all is well now Very Happy
Sorry if that's a bit hard to follow, but it's not easy to write it really! Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!

I noticed it was spring loaded but....mmm... I was hoping it was a standard on/off switch....Time to look at the wiring diagram. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I'm pretty sure that a standard on/off switch will be fine for your rear fog and demister. I don't know if the timer on the demister is on the switch or on the unit, if its on the unit them a mom/off switch would be better. As far as the hazard switch goes you need a special switch. I did'nt realise the demister was on a timer. I thought it was on until you turned it off.? 1999 Defender TD5 110
