Remember that Land Rover dealers offer a price match set-up so you could get the dealer to service the motor for Independent prices! Funnily enough it was the dealer that told me!

Unfortunately, prices do seem to vary considerably between LR main dealerships.
I was provided with the following quotes for a 72k/Type B service: Guy Salmon (Bristol) = £634.85 Matford (Exeter) = £535.00 M J Fews (Charfield)= £458.74 Quite why there should be a £176-ish variation in price for the same service is beyond me. I know, from previous experience, that M J Fews know their stuff, so the fact that they are cheapest is a bonus. Make sure you shop around '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci |

and see if you can purchase your oil from the cash & carry, and take that with you...around £100 of the cost will be oil which you can ave at least 50% of that value...
I can get the recommended Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil (Recommended by Ford) for £23 for 4 litres...an easy £50 saved Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

By way of comparison, MJ Few's parts dept were charging £29.50 for 4 litres of Castrol Magnatec Professional A5 5W-30 back in August 2012. '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci

Not much, engine oil and filter change, fluid level checks, you'll find the schedule on here somewhere. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Does anybody have the LR service sheet / schedule in pdf format?
(The one with all the tick boxes that they are supposed to give you after the service) Thanks, and apologies if my searching technique wasn't good enough. Jon |
