Cheers. Not as Professional as Some, but practical and works well. I couldn't carry on with just tunes by my knees, so this is a perfect compromise

Well I can hear it now . Seriously though, its a great budget upgrade that apart from the HU all was purchased via ebay cheaply.
Coming out of a D3 HSE you are spoilt with a 14 speaker Harmon Kardon system, and I do like my tunes all around rather than at my knees. |

The D3 would be much more soundproofed and quieter though inside anyway boosting the effect. The Defender less so.
The sub you've got is that a shallow one? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

The Sub is KFC-W112S. Now that is tight and took some head scratching to get it to fit too. I went from a surface mount which didn't fit (the Sub outer ring is 2.5cm), to hidden fitting which didn't work initially either. I changed the angle of the back board enough to allow just enough room for the 6x9's and that did'nt work either.
I then changed the Ply from 12mm to 9mm and that gave me just enough. |

Thought it looked a tight fit. Ideally you could do with a sealed or ported enclosure really but I'd imagine in that space it's nigh on impossible. At least the Yanks don't have these problems much with their big trucks.
I expect your fining the 6x9's are pretty potent too... Are they the 500w peak versions? S-1094's off the top of my head. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Yes the 6x9's are powerful. I had them running before the sub & amp and thought did I really need to add more Bass?, but once I did the system works in harmony and although the Sub is turned down its a brilliant sound

To be honest I think you made the right choice. If you'd have gone for a more powerful Sub it wouldn't have fitted anyway and also perhaps may have cancelled out 6x9's a little. I have had in another car in the past running a Kenwood 1224D Sub which is a 12" & nearly 1000w rms power 1600w peak. In a sealed large enclosure. The bass power output on that was massive. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Well you did point me mildly towards a full Kenwood System, and apart from the OEM speakers up front I did just that. I will probably upgrade the dash ones, just not yet.

if you do upgrade the fronts I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the price to do it. As they are relatively small speakers they are £40 a pair. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

These are both the same only with different grilles:
New style Previous The S1094 is the newest version and AFAIk the only difference is the grill the power is the same. Mine (As you can see in my gallery) are the S1093 and personally I prefer this one for it's grille design as I like it more than the newer one. Also the 1093 will match your 6x9's too. Two choices both the best Kenwood offer for 10cm speakers. Kicker also do some nice ones also but your probably best to stick to the same brand and design. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Without looking at mine yet, are they simply a Plug n Play and fit in the existing hole?
