Funny cracking BFG ATs
Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the same as me here.

While washing the 110 and then taking it to BP to pump up the tyres, I noticed a slight crack in a large circle around the tyres about 3cm in from the edge all round the wall. It's like a crack on old tries. Not really bad but noticeable.

Having taken the 110 for its MoT today, the tester pointed it out to me as being on all four tyres inside and out. Not an MoT fail but an advisory.

They're 5 years and 50,000 miles old. Holding air and driving fine.

Any thoughts? Just wear and tear?

I'm going to start saving up for a new set of the same 235/85R16s - they're brilliant all rounders.

I suppose the second hand value helps. A set of 4 with 40% tread might pay for 1 or 2 new ones.

Good fund that, Gum. I'll take a pic and post to illustrate. Perhaps worth me contacting BFGoodrich to see what they say.

At 5 years and 50k miles, they'll say they're worn out. Darren

Quite a commom thing cracking on BFG especially if left in direct sunlight and not used for long periods of time.

Once the cracking gets bad the water gets drawn into the steel casing and rusts then will sometimes go out of round.

Well worth a look is the General AT2 which re still available as the are classed as a commercial LT tyre so should be around for some time, even though General have the new AT available. Andy.
