I suppose the second hand value helps. A set of 4 with 40% tread might pay for 1 or 2 new ones.

Quite a commom thing cracking on BFG especially if left in direct sunlight and not used for long periods of time.
Once the cracking gets bad the water gets drawn into the steel casing and rusts then will sometimes go out of round. Well worth a look is the General AT2 which re still available as the are classed as a commercial LT tyre so should be around for some time, even though General have the new AT available.
