This is one of the first modifications I did to mine, as I wanted decent seats with head rests for my kids in the back. You will need three separate frames, I'm afraid - I bought mine from Exmoor along with the seats.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The two outermost frames are latched into position by lockable over-centre catches that have to be fitted to the front sloping part of the rear wheel boxes. The middle seat frame is then held down by the rear corners of the two outside frames. The seat backs are secured by substantial sprung loaded brackets that allow the backs to be reclined or folded, much like front seats in a regular car. These brackets are known as something like the recliner kit on the Exmoor Trim website and are bought as a separate kit of parts. As it happens, I have a complete spare kit in my garage that can be yours for £25, if you're planning to do this conversion. They have some scuffs from rattling around in a box but are otherwise brand new, unfitted. Click image to enlarge I've got a few more pictures showing details of the installation but they're on my laptop at home, so I'll dig them out later. That's great info unfortunately it looks like they don't do the frames on the exmoor site anymore so I'm going to have to start searching for some

Really? Might be worth a phone call as I can't see how they'd sell many without frames to put them on Darren

Yes, I looked into these ( Premium High Back - Full Set with XS ½ Leather – EXT010-3-XSBR ?) but for a 07> Defender you will need new seats belt stalks (not included) and you can't have a storage guard fitted behind them. Also, when I enquired a couple of months back the middle seat would be served by a lap belt and not a 3 point harness - not ideal in my eyes. HTH Cheers, Superspoons |

This is one thing that really puzzles me about ExmoorTrim: they produce some really good stuff and then forget the details, e.g. why would you ripout the seats in a Puma 110 which all have a 3 point belt and replace the middle one with a lapbelt. I would have bought their lock and fold seats for my 90 as they look really good, but as they touch in the middle of the load area, no one can actually get into them?!? |

My SVX look-a-like has four Exmoor Trim rear lift up seats, these ones:
http://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/catalogue/deta...l?sef=hcfp I ordered them in June 2011, so before I was trimmimg, in full black leather at a cost in excess of £1000 The first set arrived with rusty metal frames. The replacement set were better but not perfect. The lift up base scrapes metal on metal when lifting (that is the design) so inevitably scratches through the waft of paint very quickly. The bases when down are held in place with one thumb turn screw on one side and consequently pivot on this single fixing when people 'squirm' about in their seats. I high lighted the issues I had with the MD at a Billing show and he assured me that the design was about to be reviewed as they'd had numerous complaints - that was at least two years ago |

Those seats look great Darren, I need those in my life . I've got 3 individual standard 2nd row seats (photo below), would I just reuse my frames if I bought the Exmoor seats like yours?
Also, can I have 2nd dibs on those brackets please if mk1collector doesn't want it? Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

I would be a customer of theirs if they sold front seats singly.
What happens if just one seat needs replacing with or without insurance. Not everyone wants to buy (or can afford to) two seats at a time!
