That's more down to the shape of the tank and the filler neck than anything to do with your engine. Basically, the change in level in the tank is not linear with the gauge. This really is one of those cases where 'they all do that, sir' is the appropriate response. Darren

LRA - thanks for your response......I was only joking about the engine (this time - for a change). I was more trying to 'show off' how many miles I got on the first 'quarter' of a tank. |

Don't normally get to work out fuel consumption figures as I fill up from a tank at the house. Today I filled up from a fuel station.
2011 2.4 Puma 110 with 15609 kms (or 9694 miles) on the clock. It came in at 60 litres for 630 kms.That is 13.19 gallons for 391.5 miles or 29.68 mpg. I use 2 stroke at every fill. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

I got 32mpg out of the last tank. Pretty happy, about the same as my old TD5 DiscoveryII

i'm somewhere between 370 and 400 on my 2.2 110. mind you, its not my driving style that gets me the extra milage, more my bravery on how far i am prepared to drive with the fuel light on Is it me, or does the first quarter of a tank seem to last for ages and the final quarter over in a heart beat? I'm not brave enough to go as low as Caterham. respect

amazed myself today !!! 565 miles on one very very filled up tank. I was beginning to think the orange light had broke then almost forgot about it and it eventually came on at 530 mile !!!!! wa ho !! since Saturday done over 560 miles (wyre forest, bristol and swansea return plus some pottering) wyre forest and swansea almost all the way there and back it ran like a dream......properly smooth and responsive like you'd expect from a modern diesel. so much so I even did a couple of short vids on the up hill sections in wales where I hope I'll be able to hear good the engine sounded... one very happy bunny |

no standard tank
been taking it nice and steady today (well except when I gave full beans first thing after some complete to55ser cut me up first - manker). anyhow the A465 had various speed restrications so many many miles today at 40 - 50 mph. then there was a steady 55 (ish) bristol and back and then there was wyre forest and back keeping up with my mates along the hagley road. I'm sure 4 mpg is down to it running better / smoother. the other 33 mpg is what I've got before. either way I'm well chuffed not only with the 37 mpg (which to be honest I'm staggered with after so many attempts at trying to get high mpg and only getting to 33) but also at running hundreds of miles with it running nice and smooth.....yeah bring it on not before time |
