I know Defenders are not the quietest of vehicles, but the consistent rattling of the rear tail gate was becoming annoying.
I have a Mantec spare wheel carrier fitted as well that wasn't helping. So as I was stood there looking for a solution I noticed my old shock absorbers ready to be taken to the skip. Five minutes and one junior hack saw later and voila. No more rattling. Not the most hi-tech mod but it works. Click image to enlarge |

It is always the impromptu small no cost modifications (like the alarm range increase) that are the best and most gratifying.
Good tip. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

My old science teacher often said "you can do anything with a thousand scientists and a billion dollars, but true genius is the simple solution" so i guess that makes you a genius,

Yes it's missing, fell off twice and didn't do much to stop it rattling, probably something to do with the extra weight of the spare wheel carrier. It was somewhat tired and compressed. |
