Hi,
I ordered a new AP Driveline clutch replacement kit to replace my rattling clutch. Now I see that when I shake the new clutch plate, i can hear the springs a bit. I can also turn them quite easy by hand. I uploaded a video of the plate here Is this normal? I guess it is, but I just want to check before I put it into the car... Regards, Paul[/url] |

Doesn't sound right. Those springs are normally solid. I had my clutch replaced due to those springs breaking.

Yesterday evening I took my gearbox off and was very happy to see that it was necessary: the old friction plate rattles so much... the centre can be moved freely by hand for almost a quarter, and the smaller springs in it are broken. The large springs are so loose they almost come out... this friction plate is not just the reason for rattling, also for a huge play on the driveline.
See & Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olLazyFes1o So far, so good. Gearbox is on axle stands below the vehicle now... will be putting it back together this Saturday. Hopefully I still remember where all the connectors and nuts & bolts go Will keep you posted... |
