smokey 300tdi
hope you can help when cold in morning or end of the day she starts with usual black smoke then when i set off smoke goes bluey grey for about half a mile then no smoke any ideas

Blue smoke indicates oil:

I would first check your turbo oil seal. It's probably leaking and dumping what leaks through down the exhaust.

The startup black smoke is normal for the 300tdi.
The open loop injection system lets excess oil in the sistem, which is burned when starting.

As for the rest, look into the turbo seal
