Spent a very enjoyable weekend at North Yorkshire Off Road Centre at Robin Hood's Bay. Arrived Friday pm in lovely sunshine, albeit a tad windy (always windy at RHB so no surprise there!).
We went in Dave's 100" Defender towing the caravan Set out the club trial on Saturday, then marshalled on Sunday. First BBQs of the summer on Sat and Sun evenings, and a goo d time had by all. Only downside was that on of the prop UJs decided to chew itself to bits on the way home and we had to pull over in a layby and remove the prop and get the rest of the way on 2 wheel drive. Fine, but Dave had to remember not to pull out of junctions too quickly (which will a 5.7l V8 takes a lot of remembering as quick happens so easily! lol) Photos on our club website - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/imageg...?album=187 Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

I helped with Medical Support on the Maggies Monster Bike & Hike (Charity Event) which was a 72mile bike & walk between Fort William & Inverness over 30 hours; Yep the participants walk through the night in the Scottish Highlands!
This is the 1st of 6 or 7 events like this I do every year, the next one is the Oxfam Trailtrekker at Skipton at the end of the month. |

(ops - just seen this after posting on 'do today thread!)
Spent the weekend with the Devon and Cornwall 4x4 team supporting the ten tors event Our role was to ferry the Devon Rescue Group all over the moor to drop them off up long bumpy muddy track that are normally closed to traffic so as they could keep tracks on all the teams walking across the moors. 2400 teenagers running all over Dartmoor for 48hrs in high winds, virtually continuous rain and pea soup mist made it a real challenge we had a last min dash to the top of 'Yes Tor' to help recover a lost sole who was found by the rescue teams - so a fab weekend of off road driving ! (made a change for me to play with the 110 whilst some one else to be doing all the medial bits ! ) https://events.exeter.ac.uk/tentors/ Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |
