That's a relief, although I guess it could be expensive!
Its just been recovered and taken to a local independent dealer. Thanks for getting back! |

Yes thanks - as per dgardel response the problem was with the injector mountings. They just need to be re-tightened. The guys at Berkshire said they had never seen this before on a Puma engine.

i have just had the exact same poblem on my 57 late defender same symtoms and same cylinders, now the main dealer is wriggling out of covering it under landrover approved warranty.
surly if this screw is not included under the service schedule to be checked and re-torqued then it has failed and should be covered under warranty ? |

So recent experience indicates that this is what it looks like:
In terms of fix there is a fiddly removal of the plastic harness retainer thingy before an 8mm bolt that needs fastening: Click image to enlarge Re-torqueing is a bit random however as it is a 'torque to yield' bolt, as in the idea is that you're actually stretching/deforming the bolt as you tighten the extra 180degrees of turn mentioned in the WSM (after an initial 6Nm): Click image to enlarge This is a one off job, and simply following the same procedure is very (very) unlikely to yield the intended engineering result. Of course you've gotta get home, and it's already as bad as it can get so fastening it 'somewhat' is the best way forward, I simply suggest that once home and dry with whiskey and Terry's chocolate orange in hand that you order two more bolts (may as well do the other one right?) and do it properly once they arrive. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |
