I see what you are getting at, however, Frontrunner call their top hinged locker doors 'gullwing' http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/land-rove...ingle.html Do you suggest that Land Rover drop the Defender name as soon as the Army stop using them......? Didn't think so....... |

@ brewstop: my excuses for this late reply but i've been very busy lately
i have yet to drive up to jansen in holland to view the alloy version of the gullwing doors that they sell, but i've had a chat about the subject with a friend that is in the lorry/horsebox/mobilhome building business, and together we drew up our own version. the metal frame is ready, as are the hinges and locks. we made the frame slightly smaller then the frontrunner ones, i think this will look better once installed on my 110 hardtop (which has no side windows at all) now we're waiting for the glass cutter where we ordered safety-glass to put in rather than a alloy door which you can't see through... finished item(s) will be installed on my 2007 110 in week 25, so will post some pics here around 21st of june. i was amazed what the lorry/mobilhome building business had to offer, straight off the shelve good quality diy-parts for next to nothing... grtz erik l |

Hi.
I know it is an old thread but can you please measure the gas strut length when closed for me. I am trying to manufacture a set of gullwings myself and am still at a loss on what gas struts to use. Thanks in advance |
