Hi Martin

I've just fitted the Alive EGR kit to my Td5. Well made and quick delivery AND there's a forum discount.

I went for a pre-2002 model year downpipe from my local motor factors. It is made by Klarius, supposedly a major exhaust manufacturer who provide OEM exhausts for a lot of vehicle manufacturers. The only BIG issue is that every 6 months, nearly to the day, the damn thing snaps the joining flange to the middle pipe. I am now on my third downpipe which apart from the inconvenience of having to drop the middle cross member off to change them they don't cost me anything as they get sent back under warranty. I just shout over the fence to my neighbour that he sold me some inferior junk 18 months ago and he comes home with one the next day! I've got the changing time from taking the spanners out of the box to putting them back in down to 20 minutes. There is someone now, can't remember who, that does a stainless steel one that has another joint in it so it can remove the need to drop the cross member but you have to take it off to get the original out in the first place and putting a stainless one on that should last the life of the vehicle seems a little pointless Rolling Eyes
Even with the hassle I've had with the breakages I would more than likely go with them again, I might have had examples of a bad batch, these things aren't often replaced so are probably made in one production run and put in stock and another production run won't be made for some considerable time so even though I've had ones six months apart from the supplier, he is probably still drawing on the same original batch the first one came from still with the same inherrent fault. Another reason(apart from the £36 original cost) is the fact that they are a standard part, just a pre-cat model down pipe.

The best is the pre-2002 from the dealers, a cheaper option is http://www.terrafirma4x4.com/products_php.php?cat=24&grp=100 or even Ebay.

I had the Allisport EGR blank on my td5, very reasonable price at a show Wink Exhaust wise i have some 304 grade stainless exhaust systems a real bit of kit which wont rust for a while Thumbs Up Going to stick one on my puma to give it a nicer sound than a transit Whistle alternatively the Terrafirma one that Pete pointed out is cheap and does the same job Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

A straight through mid section is worthwhile too. But if you wanted a de-cat also then more or less a whole system would suit better. GBR

I bought a full exhaust system from Stratton 4x4, £195 delivered with all fittings, bolts and gaskets, it's made by Britpart, good value, decat front, straight through centre pipe, gave more power and helped the turbo to spin but sounds very raspy under hard acceleration, other than that it's fine and fits well.

It purely depends on your budget...you request 'best place to buy' do you mean best cat or cheapest cat? There are loads of options. Best to do a Google and check the myriad of options and make your own mind up, after all a cat's a cat irrespective of whether it's made of cheese or 316 stainless, or manufactured by someone who claims his flanges are the best or knocked up by a horse dentist. (There is a story there somewhere Laughing ).

Thanks for all the replies.
Will take a look at some of the ones you guys have put forward.
Just wanted an easy to fit EGR blanking kit.
The Cat replacement pipe I think needs to be stainless.
All info greatly appreciated.

Cheers Andy
