In July i am holidaying in inverness. I will be going the long way round up the west coast across the north coast then down. Are there any sights or attractions i could include that are 4x4 or land rover related?Cheers Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Cheers both. I have a week in inverness so can mooch out from there. The west coast will be wild camp for two nights so anywhere picturesque to sleep would be good.

Look at staying in Arisaig, Morar, Crinnan or Tayvalloch. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

You need to drive the Applecross Pass - highest road in the UK. You are rewarded with the most amazing views across to Skye and the Applecross Inn is well worth a visit.

Slightly diverse! Absolutely Scotland at Stirling have a whole host of multi activity things to do and also an Armoured Personnel Carrier to drive!

Ok so I'm a Scotsman through and through , I live nxt to the brig'O doon and Robbie Burns cottage , I also look at the isle of Arran (often call Scotland in miniature ) the Mull of Kintyre and Turnberry golf course every day . I have a Russian wife and a business in Tbilisi and Moscow and a 2 bus tour company here in the heartland . I'm just in tonight from a trip to Perth , Stirling castle , the Falkirk wheel ( worlds only revolving boat wheel ) Dunkeld , on the river Tay , ( famous for Beatrix Potter and the only LR experience in Scotland ) Scone Palace , and an absolute must whilst on the A9 is the House of Bruar ( a highland experience to rival Harods any day ) At Easter we traveled with defender to Arran , Kintyre , make sure you do the Crinnan Canal , Oban , Mull , Staffa , Iona ( founded by St Columbus ) Fingles cave , you will see the puffins , dolphins , sea eagles , otters and seals , onwards to Skye ( three chimneys restaurant in world top 10 ) then to Tiree where the world big wave windsurfing champs are held . The outer Hebrideas will blow you away with corral white deserted beaches and crystal sea , check out the standing stones of Calanish ( much better than stone henge ) back to the highlands then Inverness , Aviemore , loads of famouse distillerys , and a wee walk up the Ben ( Nevis ) befor the 30 min drive over to and through Glen Coe . Scoot over to Edinburgh if going home the east coast M1 or down the middle to Glasgow and onto the M74 if heading south on the M6 . Well that's just a quick rumble around my back yard , You will have a great time , bring your middgie repellant and wellies , passport and euros if travelling after the refarendum . Don't forget to stop at the Glennfinnan viaduct with you camera ready for the Harry potter steam train ( the Jacobbite ) A must see . Ok I hope iv sold it to all around the world . See you soon Keith

We will need to break the journey just south of Glasgow, Bothwell/Hamilton area. Any suggestions ? Hi Bob , firstly I'm thinking of tunes you could be playing as you cross the border " welcome home come on in and close the door " or " No borderline " anyway at Hamilton right on the motorway there is Strathclyde country park with roller coasters and stuff , Glasgow is only another 20 min onwards but I recommend stoping at Gretna green , it's only 40min before Hamilton and a good stop for food shopping and all things to ease you into the Scottish way of life . Like bagpipes , tartan and hairy haggis . There's the solway firth close by where the tide races in faster than a horse can run or you could take the west coast scenic route .Usually when I'm running the border it's at 3am with a boot full of moonshine .
