2 days ago whilst travelling at 50 mph Big Bang under cubby box, almost wet myself, stopped immediately. Could select all gears and hi-lo ratio, but couldn't move into diff-lock, also looking under the vehicle there seemed to be a hole in the transfer box. Phoned dealer as vehicle is 1 month out of warranty BUT was awaiting a warranty repair for an oil leak from transfer box. Dealership had been so busy they could not carry out repair until 7th May. But they had said it was OK to drive. Anyway , dealer told me to drive it in, despite me telling them the diff lock leaver would not move and there appeared to be a hole in the transfer box, high up on near side of box. After examining it they said it seemed to have been driven with diff lock on, even though there was no dash light on. I then explained in no uncertain terms that the road I had travelled on was very windy, travelling at 40 mph I think I would have noticed if the diff lock had been engaged and that there had been no dash light. They knew the road in question and agreed that it would have been very noticeable if the diff lock had been on at that speed. So eventually they agreed there was a fault that caused the box to disintegrate and in so doing jam the diff lock on. Land Rover customer services were involved and so I am now awaiting a call from them to confirm the replacement of the box and if I have to make any contribution, at which point we will have another discussion regarding the failure to repair the oil leak in a timely manner, allowing me to drive meantime as well as requesting me to drive to the dealership. So we will see how things pan out tomorrow. LANDYWATCH

Well, excellent ending. New transfer box fitted today. Just picked it up from Stratstone Cardiff and all is well. No charge! LANDYWATCH
