Im currently dismantling a set for the backs to be colour coded, as you can see the trim comes off quite nicely and is a all in once piece

Hello mate
They'll probably dismantle the cover to form a template for your new trim ![]() |

They normally will use the original trim to make patterns which they can then re use. My recaros came from a turned clio and had a few rips so I just let him keep them. Take plenty of time on the rebuild or let then do it, easy to mark the nice fresh paint. I put seat covers over them just to protect them going back in. What colour are they getting?

Chris, it depends on the pattern/design of the seat you require. If you want the same design then you should template to the cover which has been removed. The issue you have though is that if the original seat is cloth and you want it covered in leather instead, then you need to make new templates out of leather for the old cloth parts. The reason for this is that leather doesnt stretch the same as fabric and therefore templating from cloth will make the leather seat baggy. With no intention of knocking but to demonstrate my point, have a look at some of the recaro/ corbeau seats that have been remade by Kahn/bespoke. The "u" shape that comes down from the head rest area to the shoulder of the seats are baggy and wrinkled where the other areas are tight from being patterned from original leather/PVC or are quilted which hides a loose fit. If you look on the Overfinch site you will see the difference in finish as they hand template in leather, no baggy wrinkles!
