Clutch release bearing genuine or not?
Hi will be replacing clutch in td5 defender over the next week,

Have got Valeo clutch and flywheel

Still got to get clutch release bearing,

Genuine are around 40

NSK and breamach around 15

What would you fit ?

Also is it worth buying a clutch alignment tool of is an appropriately sized socket ok?

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Genuine. For that money it's not worth saving a few quid only to have to take the gearbox out again if it fails. John

Isn't there a release bearing in the clutch kit? I've fitted about 5 valeo clutches to td5's and its always had a release bearing in the box!

Definitely Genuine. I recently had a gearbox change, a R380 into a 200Tdi which required a new release bearing. A non genuine (not sure which make) one was installed which caused the clutch to slip but only in 5th gear, on removal of the gearbox the release bearing was knackered. The metal bearing was just falling off of the plastic sleeve which it should have been a tight press fit on. Once replaced with a Genuine part i have had no problems at all.

HTH

Regards,

Mark
