ruberising the back
Has anyone done something drastic like ruberising the back of a 110 for protection?

Almost changing it into an enclosed pick up truck?

Something like Plasti-Dip
http://www.frost.co.uk/coatings/plasti-dip...allon.html

When thinned, it can be sprayed...

I assume you want it to be able to be hosed-out after carrying a heavy load? Otherwise Dynamat would coat the interior and stop a lot of noise... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Spoke to a company offering that at the Donnington Indoor show. Is great if you purely use your vehicle as the rufty tufty thing it is designed as, but is irreversable, can still be scratched and looks really tacky after a while (last bit wasn't from the guy on the stand).

In principle yes, but for resale, won't be so easy on the eyes. Does give moderate soundproofing i have been assured though. ===================================

I always thought getting the back Line-x'd would be a good idea. The stuff is sooooo hard wearing and would keep the noise down too.

Apathy rules and I never looked into a quote........

I saw something at a game fair called 'speed liner' . Looked pretty tough, a textured rubber spray with lots of colours available. They were demonstrating it as a bed liner for pickups. Didn't get prices as I don't have a pickup.

There is some really interesting products out there to do this, like http://www.spray-on-liners.co.uk/ - makes the back end look like a factory spec'd Jap/US pickup.

Looks good.

Found this too.

Have to say I really like how tidy the finished product looks. Will be adding it on to my wishlist for the 90 rebuild I have in the yard... Thumbs Up

Just been speaking to Line-X down here in North Devon, really interesting discussion.

The material they spray is 3mm thick is waterproof and has acoustic deadening properties..........Hmmm I have a plan forming.

Ive got the plasti-kote UV hardwearing grippy paint a lot similar to Line-x, the tin cost 28 quid, just waiting for a ideal time to roller the back of my 110 DC with it as Ive worn all the paint to bare metal! 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Any idea on the cost of doing the rear load bed of a Defender?

On a 2002 Defender... They must have been feeling generous with the paint the day yours got sprayed usually only just enough to cover the metal, no more...

There is never an ideal time to do anything, just less inconvenient... Wink Get it painted... Wink

Heads up WSD I'll be in Cardiff Friday/Saturday... Thumbs Up

Haha they were generous! its just worn right out after 160,000miles worth of stuff sliding around in the back!

Ive just had my 110 back after a week in the garage having its warped head reskimmed! So I want to drive it as ive missed the old girl!

Got brand new BFG AT's on mods to put on and pack the old tyres up for the courier as ive sold them!

New winch bumper and husky to go on when bumper arrives!

And what are you doing in Cardiff Geo? 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)
