MAF's.... what actually fails?

I've just oredered a new MAF for the project 90. Plugging a nanaocom in shows that it's doing nada, zilch. it's dead as that parrot.

So, I was wondering, what actually "breaks" on them?

Is there something that one could get into, and solder broken wire back together again?

from what i've heard Ian say its the little dangly thing inside that burns out.....bit like those flower you blow and the bit fly away....

LOL, gotcha, so not much that the average layman can repair without totally mullering the outer casing then.
