I posted the following in another section earlier today but given that the lack of underbody wax protection on Puma's from the factory is a constant theme on this and other forums I thought new owners might like to read the official line.
........................... I thought it common knowledge that JLR stopped applying any kind of protective wax / underseal the introduction of the Puma model in 2007. Having had plenty of previous models that had been waxed at the factory when I took delivery of my first Puma in 2007 I complained directly to JLR about the lack of protection, the following was their reply of 17/08/ 2007:
Regardless of the above a number of us at the time managed to convince our supplying dealers that the undersides and cavities still needed protection which resulted in them carrying out a free application of underbody wax. But that was way back then and it would be a snowflakes chance in hell of the same happening now so it's either DIY or take the vehicle to somewhere who can. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

That'll be the reason my '07's rear crossmember had no paint then! I am always wary of "enhancements" and "improvements". |

Landrover UK told me that if I wax oil my new defender it will void the chassis warranty.
My main dealer wouldn't commit to either way so I'm going ahead as the chassis will outlast the warranty anyway. Always had my others done by a professional but thanks to this forum and the great information the members have put on here I'm going it alone. Steve |
