Shake down event before Croatia Trophy in a few weeks,, a convincing win, even Lishlady popped to to watch a bit[/quote]
Lishlady, really! A rather convenient mistype TJ......Too convenient. There was one DRL....it was on mine but i hid it up against the massive mound of Sand that I parked behind. Great to catch up a bit and see some serious monsters of the off road world. That Devon 4X4 engine sounded like there were many hundreds of raging stallions underneath that bonnet. Buss Sweets mobile was very expertly driven as proven in the results. regards =================================== Steve 90 xs sw in Stonoway Grey - Sold 110 USW X-TECH |

Lots of people already post in the other thread about what they did in over the last few days / weekend. Can we not just keep things to that thread rather than starting another one - also this is the Events section, meaning organised events on set dates, not random personal events. If you want to post about a particular event then start a thread about it, otherwise this could get to be a messy and confusing duplication.

Thread killer!.
Think TJ101 was looking for more structured and interesting posts based on entire weekend/week/even month long ventures in our defenders. If Martin objects, i'm sure he will voice his objection to a thread on a forum, after all thats what forums are for. . Its how a thread is used as opposed to whether its been covered or not....Just look at the best tyre and wheel threads as an example. I've asked Martin to take a look.
As I said before, the current What I did in my Defender Today thread is already quite random in what people post ie. today, yesterday, the weekend, last week, what I'm doing next week / weekend, etc - so a thread with basically the same title with 2 words changed could just be confusing. What we are lacking a bit is a thread about Land Rover motor sport events - ie. what motor sports events are coming up, who enters what, how you did in a particular event. I rather get the impression that most people who post regularly on D2 are not involved in off-road motor sports, but perhaps a dedicated thread would open up the field to more people expand interest and maybe participation. So its more the thread title nearly-duplication that I'm saying about!! Just a thought! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

The other thread is getting to long-winded Pam
As i said in the opening line to this topic, its about what events you have done with your defender, (Maybe should be in general ??, rather than the Events section) and using them,, not that you have bought a light lens, or the latest bit of bling to screw on to it,, Apologies LishlaNdy

Sorry TJ101, I skimmed through the original post. I understand now though where you are coming from. For example, if you were spending a weekend/week travelling around in the Defender, then this thread would be more appropriate than the other thread. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) An engine to TDi for!

Yeah, I see where the OP is coming from too - just the thread title is just too similar to the other one, where numerous posts on exactly the same thing as OP suggests have already - rightly placed or wrongly placed - been made there!
A brand new thread title that is clearly for a different purpose would be better, s'all I'm saying, then people will know which one to post on for what type of thing. 'Today' or 'Weekend' can be the same thing, after all!! We do 'events' at least once a month and some of them are a 3 day weekend, some a 4 day weekend and some just for one day of the weekend. So 'events' somewhere in the thread title would differentiate this one from the other one. Or am I just being a pedantic woman? But to stop people nagging at me for killing the thread, here is my contribution.
At the weekend (well just Sunday actually) we (me and other half) entered our monthly club trial. It was fab to be warm for once, albeit a bit wind-swept. Anyhow, pleased to say we won on the day and a good time was had by all. Pictures can be found at http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/imageg...?album=186 (We are in the red 100" Defender) Next club event is at Robin Hood's Bay (North Yorkshire Off Road Centre) with camping on site. It is usually cold and blowing a gale, so we'll go in the caravan rather than the roof tent. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

I like the concept of this thread, even if perhaps the title needs a bit of fettling... How about 'Defender weekend' as a starter for ten? and perhaps it could encompass one or more days around a weekend trip/event. Just something a bit more interesting than taking it to the shops.
For those, like myself, who these days, tend to skim the threads, all too often an interesting post+piccies of somebody's laning trip or camping weekend etc is lost amongst the drudgery of 'I washed it' or 'I retuned my radio to pick up Jack FM' (I admit I am guilty as charged of similar comments in the past ) Nice idea TJ Jon - 110 td5 [sold].
