Front Propshaft issue
Hi

Driving down to Northumberland for weeks holiday felt vibration from transmission. Checked this morning and there is a leak from where front prop meets the diff. Quite greasy around the end of the prop and residue down the diff casing. But no puddle on the ground.

As I am away on holiday for the week I am wondering how serious and / or how long I can run around in this condition?

Any advice please . . .

Yours anxiously!
Richard

Hi Richard. As long as it isn't gushing out you should be fine whilst on holiday. There is a wee bit of oil bypassing the seal is all. Take the precaution of checking the oil level in your front diff, if low top up and have a good holiday.

Vibration is more worrying than the leak.
Check for radial free play in the diff bearing and both ends of the propshaft.
You'll need to chock the wheels and take off the handbrake first.
Any free play should be dealt with asap.
