Crankshaft pulley.... rubber bushing disintegrated
Anyone had the rubber damper bit disintegrate on a Td5? mine went the other night, you can rotate the grooved pulley bit forward and back on the back of the main pulley.

Is there a repair kit for it? Or am I better to just weld the two pieces together? (and thus save spending a fortune for a new one)

Typical, i gave my spare one away a while back.

can I recommend you buy a new one as quickly as possible and fit it, it acts as a harmonic damper that stops the crankshaft from getting stress fractures DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Fairly common, no repair as far as I know. Agreed get it changed ASAP. Unfortunately not cheap and only go for a genuine if you want it to last! 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold
