South Africa 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Keswick Green
battery
I think my battery is on its way out based on the quick voltage drop my battery monitor is showing.
Should I only worry about the cca? And if so can one fit a deep cycle with a high enough cca rating?
What is the cca of the standard puma battery?

My 2 year old battery (Puma MY11) is $hite too Evil or Very Mad Haven't run it down or anything.
One symptom is flickering LED headlamps before the engine is running. My battery resting voltage is around 11.2V (left light flickers), down to 10.8V when the glow plugs kick in (left light flickers), down to 10.2V when starting up (both lights flicker), then takes about 5 seconds to reach 14.2V once the alternator is working.
Now fitting a twin battery setup as the Varta is apparently cr@p Rolling Eyes Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

But does it matter if it's a deep cycle I ana fit for the starting battery.......as long as the cca is above 800?

I'm looking at a Optima bluetop D31M. Whats the difference between capacity and reserve capacity?

If it is a combined starter /leisure battery such as the Odyssey then no problem.

We run both our 110's on twin Odyssey set ups.

I fear there may be quite a bit of variability depending on the year/day of week/shift of manufacture - true for the Defender and probably its parts. There's a thread running at the moment about at least 2 sets of tyres from a normally high quality manufacturer cracking at the treadblock base. I suspect they were made about the same time in early 2011. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

I'll soon be joining you Thumbs Up However, although I've got all the stuff ready to assemble, I'm somewhat lacking in self-confidence Rolling Eyes Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

BigWheels, that is looking good by the numbers. Is the size (LxWxH measurements) the same as the original LR Varta, meaning is it a plug 'n play replacement?

By the way, I am still running my original LR Varta, 4.5 years now, no problems except for the Speakers also flickering when the car is off, but who turns on its headlights when the truck is still not running? Thinking anyway to replace it this year before the next winter when this original Varta will have turned 5 and would like a bit higher capacity and one which keeps its charge at above 12V..... You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
