Mud Rails
Hi, driving a D2 at present but v. keen on a 110 XS utility. Only problem is I'm 6'5" and it's a bit tight for knee room.
I'd be keen to have a look at a def with mud rails, in particular how much extra knee room one gets and how much it lifts the driver.

Does any one in the east of Scotland have them fitted that I could get a look at?

Thanks, BCP

I might be on the wrong track, If you mean the steel wedges that are fitted to allow the seat to slide further back I have words of caution.

I had a set fitted when I took delivery of a 110 in December last year as I felt that the seat was to far forward,
I'm only 5' 10".

a) The seat belt was not over the shoulder as required by law but cut across the upper arm making it even more difficult to steer.

b) I had to duck down to allow me to see out of the drivers side window when looking out .

I have now taken them out and they sit on top of the cupboard in the garage awaiting disposal.

I agree with Peter Evans but that is a small price to pay for comfort. I wouldn't be without them now. BM52

Im 6'3 and dont have mud rails in my 110 300tdi as I really dont need them at all. I smaller steering wheel is essential for me though as otherwise I can't lift my leg when operating the pedals.

The quick fix option is to pack washers under the rear 2 bolts so that the seat rail is not obstructed Thumbs Up

I had them fitted for about a year but removed & sold them a couple of months ago.
They were fine comfort wise but I got fed up ducking down to have a good look out of the window. Make sure to try a set first and be certain you can live with them. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

It's a matter of taste, I suppose. I'm 5'11" and I wouldn't be without them because
a) I like being higher up and further back (I was actually in pain without them and some seat supports)
b) the seat belt is just brushing my shoulder (rrrrrrrr)
c) they give my arms just the right height to rest on the window frame and cubby (with under-cubby box) at the same time.
I don't care that I have to duck down a bit to see the traffic lights - at least I can look down at the eurobox next door Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...
