It depends on what you want it to do, my Bosch was around £300 when I got it a few years ago and it's ok. I used a proper kango (small one) a few weeks to break up some concrete and it didn't touch it, faithful sledge was my friend then! Darren

Not for that price! Did you miss off a zero? If you meant under a grand you could buy a decent one! Laughing

If your limit is £100 anything you get will be made of cheese. Expect to pay £500 to £800 for a good one.

You can get 2kg SDS percussion drills for under a £100, look for DeWalt or Bosch. If you can stretch to £150 look at Makita. I bought a Makita ten years ago on the recommendation of a local hire company who stocked them on account of the abuse they received on hire. Has certainly lived up to the claims.

Bosch all the way. As long as its blue it will have 3 year warranty with it. I have a 2kg 800w for general building work, that has seen plenty of action.Think it was about £120 a few years ago. Find makita very overrated my second choice would be Dewalt.

I have both the Makita drills in the above link and find them very good, I have had no problem getting spare parts when I have broken them which inculde new gearboxes and dog clutches inside. Mine have had some stick over the years and are still going strong.

They dont like "core" drills like used for drain pipes etc as they are just to big for the gearbox barings inside and eventually fall apart from the hammer action vibrating them to death while trying to turn a large drill bit. I use only up to about 24mm in mine as a rule and they are fine even with a 600mm drill length.
