Ghost gearbox mount
hi Deep Down,
I just asked the same question of my main dealer today. It seems from the above posts there is no need for the mounting but I'll let you know what the local service manager comes back with as he has gone to find out. It is strange that even with a brand new Defender the chassis cross member still has the bracket trying to reach out and connect with the gearbox! Very Happy
Cheers, John.

I was advised last week that the mount was used sometime prior top 2008, The bolt used tended to seize in the gearbox casing and could cause the case to crack so it was left out as it was felt that it would not cause any harm.

Thanks Arc, that sounds plausible. It will be interesting to see if my service mgr comes back with the same answer!
