When driving long distances the handbrake handle in my 110SW (Puma) gets hot. Is this a feature or a bug? Hans

LOL, I should have known.
From all the cars I owned the Defender is the one I like the most. Its performance on snow and the heated handbrake handle are unsurpassed in the winter. Hans http://www.orlaya.fr |

My handle gets hot too! The heating system on the 'Puma' is unsurpassed. From what I understand and witnessed at my work with all the TD5s driving round with their grilles covered by whatever comes to hand Land Rover finally got their act together and developed a system that would kick out some heat (or was it inherited from the Ford development team?). On my Defender I only have to crack the rotary knob a 'gnat's knacker' above cold and it's warm and toasty. To get the same heat in a TD5 you'd need half a litre of petrol and a box of Swan Vestas. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

The heated handbrake system on the puma is for actually warming up a bottle of water (fits in nicely) when you need to spray some on the windscreen becuase the washer jets are frozen

That could be the cause of the hot handle. Sometimes it is annoying though, when cold outside it is OK. Hans http://www.orlaya.fr |

It is the lower vent - turn it off or deflect it and youll see. Mike

Or you could fit a Range Rover Classic hand brake lever

That looks like nice solution. I'll think about it again when my 110 is out of warranty. Hans http://www.orlaya.fr |

I have also thought of wrapping some water pipe insulation around it to keep it from frying my leg. I had to stuff a sock in the lower heat register to keep the heat off of me ( the wifey wanted it on) so I am glad that I got a Puma and not a td5 based on heating and cooling alone! 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

I don't have a problem with cooling in my TD5 on the moment and I believe that I can feel the heater to start working after 100km and coming in a traffic jam. Roel
