In the news today appears that a major snow storm is under way.
Take care guys! BTW: Here is sunny and expecting 28ºC for today. According to the report, no rain/snow are foreseen in the next 20 days. Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

My last year as a shepherd in South Warwickshire was in 1998, I was lambing a flock of 1500 all in less than a month. I was 2/3rds the way through when we were hit by the same type of weather we're experiencing now. I only had building space to keep 500 ewes under cover, less when they've got lambs. On the third week a band of rain hit us overnight into Good Friday and when I went on my rounds in the fields I came back with a pick up load of dead lambs ranging from a couple of days old to 10 days old, when counted up there were 245 lambs. Most had died through hyprethermia, some had been overcome by the flash flooding in the fields. Full grown ewes had been swept along, it was an absolute nightmare and you are so helpless to do anything. At the end of the day you can't change Mother Nature and you have to take it on the chin, just don't expect people in that situation to be happy about it, they accept it and try to live with it, no wonder agriculture has got the highest suicide rate in the country as farmers try to deal with their lot. |

I remember that date very well. We lost over 40 well grown lambs in that storm. Heart breaking work sometimes this farming lark.

Just had some pictures sent to me by my ex, she lives on the outskirts of Wrexham and shows a good 6 to 7" of snow. What have we got in Hereford? Rain and ever increasing puddles

That's just down the road from me, and it really is quite bad, especially as you get further into North Wales An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

Well we did head over towards Buxton and decided to turn back about 5 miles from Buxton. With heavy snow still falling, rush hour looming and the main roads out whited over from huge snow drifts. Some of the drifts at the side of roads were 5ft high.
The mrs took a couple of pics from her phone, will see what they turned out like. |

We stopped for a hot drink in Ashbourne on the way back and a news van was in the car park. A few defenders went by at the same time too, 2 grey 90s and a grey 110 complete with rack and hannibal roof tent. 2 of the 3 driven by women. |
