Are you sure the squeal is from the turbo? Could it be the drive belt that is loose, thats also causing your charging issues

Drive belts have a sring loader tensioner which keeps the drive belt tensioned perfectly from tdi to Puma. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Yip.. for sure!! I have a BMW with "efficient dynamics" which among other things has the stop/start feature but it hasn't worked since october... called BMW and there was a list as long as my arm for the stop/start to stop working... if the battery is not in full charge and under +4 degrees and if you ar running a lot of electrics. I then asked if the alternator was not up to keeping up and he said a big capacity alternator would use more fuel. I give up. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I know of plenty of TD5`s that had to have the tensioner changed and not a million miles Discocuzzy had his changed due to the squeal which was really annoying |

LR did the alternator because even after 15 min with a jet wash aimed at the altinator and 150 nervous mile drive home the light was still on, i have to admit and don't tell LR, that i gave the defender the clean of its life an told them it was a road side puddle...........but sssssssssssss i didn't tell you that. |
