United Kingdom 1995 Defender 110 300 Tdi CSW Aintree Green
Test you knowledge
All,I bought a '96 300tdi 110 CSW aintree Green last Jan, 98k, 2 owners full history, every MOT etc . Took a lot of hunting but found one that fitted all the criters (inc being exempt from LEZ). been though a few LR sepcialists over the years, all in the SE.

As you can imagine, after a year, and lots of looking on line and on here I am starting to get itchy fingers and buring pockets. What can I do to bring it into the 21st Century.

It is almost totally original condition with the exception of the radio; have added JW LED Headlights and am thinking of getting a set of LED lights for the rest front and rear.

I have a not limitless budget but dont want to waste buying one thing when another is better so please can I ask you to dig deep into your Defender experiences and knowledge - what, from who and where from.

Brought it for my Mountain biking as I can fit the bikes into it fully assembled - rear seats down is perfect and dont mind roughing it for the weekend in the back so is more my toy that daily run around.

Killer90 - yes a DRL Bumper could be on the list and not everything is going to be white!

Feel free to PM me with who does Def2 discounts or any LR specialist around West London. TY&GN

If its original at the minute its nice to make subtle changes , perhaps some nice wheels, some leather parts as you say led lights are great and are a must. Perhaps a smaller type steering wheel and then look at some seats and soundproofing Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

Killer - thought that would grab you attention and thinking a trip to you might be in order some day when spring arrives (!) Thumbs Up

Budget doesnt allow for a new one, and it would be too nice to start messing about with.

Have my eye ona couple of Dynamat xtra bulk kits which, by the look of it, evcen I couldn't Censored up! roof and under carpet = job done.

Could you leather wrap the dash of a 300 tdi (and maybe the sun visors, interior pannels, window surrounds, door cards and re trin the headlining?!) Shocked

We have a 96 300 TDi 110 with 204k, owned since 97

Do not get carried away too much.

How long do you intend keeping it?

Use in London then first thing I would be looking at is radiator and heater system as the rad is getting old. Ditto exhaust system

Take door cards off and inspect door frames. Inspect chassis and waxoyl??

Handbrake? Is it the old drum one? Replace it with an X brake

Have a read of THIS

We've started 'leathering' a 300 / TD5 dash today, keep an eye on our posts for details soon.

We already offer sun visors and door cards Thumbs Up

If you have JW speaker headlamps, and thinking about getting LED lights...

Why not get a bumper fitted with JW speaker LED DRL's... so everything matches.

Purpose made, brand new bumper (not a converted used Land Rover one as a lot of people sell) with 4 year warranty lamps etc.

http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?ma...923a3c8257

Also available from me - as I designed them lol.

Choice of spot lamp and DRL and standard bumper, or with a military spec centre pin.

I would also upgrade the turbo to a variable geometry turbo (again my kit lol) which gives a much nicer spread of power and more importantly torque - especially when used in conjunction with a higher efficiency intercooler (or we could even charge cool) and a nice stainless steel exhaust.

At the same time, you could have a nice headlining trimmed in Technosuede (looks the same as Alcantara, but much better fit) - and a choice of colours. This is done on brand new headlinings - not second hand saggy ones and done to a full OEM standard.

I offer a vehicle and collection and delivery service lol - fully insured driver, and fully insured when in my custodianship. Thumbs Up I have a few customers in the London area.
