Having read the heading I began reading, hoping it referred to 500 lb/ft+ of torques! |

Here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic18849.html Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I seem to average around 27mpg, I don't hang about and worry about gear changes and I tend to stick to 60mph max, to be honest I don't particularly enjoy thrashing around in a vehicle with a high centre of gravity and knobbly tyres, if I fancy going fast I will put the back Elise on the road - that does 40mpg and no-one believes that!
I do find that if I use the Defender for the commute to Milton Keynes I tend to be overtaking most vehicles on the way into and out of the roundabouts, I think I may drive faster upto 60 than I realise sometimes Everyone has their driving style and I love pottling about in the defender, if it did 40 mpg I'd be over the moon but I know it'll never happen. My old Disco always did 25mpg, when I took the winch, ARB bumper and changed the MTRs to ATs it was doing 28mpg, shame I'd been driving with that extra weight on for 7yrs Darren |

Just went to fuel up at 30,005.00 miles - burnt a total of 848.1 Gallons in 18 month, which give me awesome mileage - and no, there is nothing broken and yes, I checked the speedo and it has less then 1% deviation.
2011-2.4-90, standard 235/85R16, flat landscape around me. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel. |

completely standard mechanics and fuel ? I'm guessing you drive even slower than myself. was just looking at my last tankful when your post came through - I've achieved a poor 30mpg ah still working on resolving my dodgy engine .... |

Everything completely as delivered - but running 90+% BP/ARAL ultimate diesel, which I found to be more effective, up to about 5% better compared to standard diesel. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel. |

I think I'm getting to the bottom of my engine problems. I've spotted a re-occuring problem. the economy starts off really well on each tank full then deteorates rapidly halfway through the tank and then improves again.??
look hear.... Click image to enlarge great - 150 miles and not even a quarter of a tank. so if my engine was to run consistently well I'd be getting over 600 miles on a tankfull? Last edited by Caterham on 19th Apr 2013 6:14am. Edited 1 time in total |

I fill up to almost the bottom of the filler tube. Do 100 miles to the 1/4 empty mark - 50 of which are before the needle goes on the scale. Then 150 - 160 miles to 1/2 empty. 3/4 empty I'm on around 260 & getting nervous. Usually about 300 by the time the ping & yellow light warn me to refill.
