There are tons of help videos on YouTube, the hardest bit is knowing the correct phrase to search for what you're trying to do.

Google's picasa software is good, it's also free and has a face recognition app that can group photos by faces, scarily accurate too
There's also basic picture editing, red-eye fix, colour balancing etc Photoshop is the daddy... |

AutoCADWS is also worth a look for CAD type work.
