Help!! Wiper rack too long!!!
Just withdrawn the front wiper drive cable from the front of the car and the new 'Britpart' cable is about 50cm longer than the old one. Old one is mucky but complete. Is the new one meant to be cut to length? 03 County HT Def.

Panic over, supplier says you cut to desired length.

Typical Britpart.

Wonder what else you'll find wrong with it......

Yes I know! Got the whole dash out.............original reason intermittent wiper seizure so going the whole hog and doing dual washer jets and side vent window demister. Looks like a road crash in the cab. At least the weather is great but cool and sunny. If Britpart did weather.........!! Very Happy Sad

Jim you must have known what I was about to go through?! Old cable out, tried to thread new S...part one in..............no go. Spiral cable in no way matched the teeth in the wiper gearboxes. Cleaned old cable thoroughly with brake cleaner (it was fine) along with cable ducts, gearboxes etc and put old cable back in........works fine and quietly. Can't remember having that much trouble with BP bits in the past but have I just experienced what others complain about!!!!!
Just the washer tubing to connect and sort the side vent ducting. And reassemble of course!

Not tried a Britpart one, mainly because the genuine ones are one of those items that are so cheap it's not worth buying after market. Renewed rack and both wiper boxes in Pam's 90 not long ago - I feel your pain !

When you put the dash back together don't catch the washer pipe between the plastic "filler" section and the bulkhead... I had the whole dash back together before I found out I'd done that... http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Thanks Dave, I'm doing so much while it's in bits that I'm being twice as OCD as I am usually. Funnily enough I had been looking at the tube routing until a bad migraine stopped the progress for the day. Very annoyed as the weather was playing game for once. Will also test and re-test before reassembly. Cheers.
