Hi there all!
I'm after a bit of advice if I may! My td5 has started to clatter on start up when cold, then there's a slow whooring sound up and down, What could it be? Flywheel? Also if I accelerate briskly to 50-60 it cuts power for a second or two then the engine light comes on then drives normally? Til I turn off n restart then light goes out? Any knowledgable td5 persons able to guess what it could be? Many thanks Kenny 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

I don't think you will get the engine light come on if the wastegate is sticking (mine never did anyway), and it won't drive normally after a second or two. If the waste gate is sticking it will feel like your hitting a governor and you will get some surging at around 60mph. With the wastegate not opening, the turbo will be overboosting. The ECU will detect this and cut the fuel. As the boost drops, fueling will then increase and the whole process starts again, leading to surging.
