2012 110 XS 2.2 . Information and help for anyone who is about to change to LED indicators and stop - tail lamps . Yesterday I mounted my new 4 inch LED's . The same diameter as the rear fog and reverse lights . Holes drilled and mounted I proceeded to wiring . Red stop tail are straight forward and no problems and look great , however indicators caused an issue . Clearly they have to be fitted with resistors to slow the flash to normal speed but it's the resistor that's the issue . I fitted the correctly supplied resistor for the indicators but they still flashed fast , the resistor was still not pulling enough juice to slow the indicator to normal flash . The resistors are 33 Ohmmes and that's not enough pull , You need 10 - 15 Ohmmes resistor to get to flash at correct speed . Even my LED supplier didn't know this , apparently they work on earlier defenders so I'm guessing there a different wiring system on newer 2012 + models . Now they work perfect .

Would I be correct to say that there is no flasher unit in this new year model ? Only because my LED specialist tells me that it is an electronic control unit used ? I'm no sparky .

There is a flasher relay, there is no difference between the 2013 Puma and older Pumas.
Take a look at my website under LED lights to see a picture of the relay location. Replacement relay is plug and play, no procedures or twiddly bits |
