My youngest is into lego and I get horrified at the prices of the kits. At Christmas his grandparents, who in a touch of guilt because they don't see us very often, bought a car transporter kit. This was a discontinued model and was around the £80 mark Jesus, that's a new tyre There's a crane that sells for something like £1500, so just be careful when you're hoovering the bedroom
As a alternative idea you could allways try this; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150763597724?ssP...1423.l2649 |

Either the big Lego Death Star or the big star destroyer (can't remember which) goes for about £5000 in the box and yes I did mean £5000!!!

Personally I feel that lego is pandering to "accuracy" and not imagination. When we were kids half a dozen bricks, a few wheels and a vivid imagination and we had anything from a Rolls Royce to a expedition Land Rover via a lunar capsule all captured in our minds eye.

I semi agree,
However with some of the kits, ie the police stations etc then the child can build it following instructions, feel a sense of achievement once built. Then their imagination can be encouraged by using the Lego and acting out scenarios like the Lego policemen chasing a Lego defender thief then the child can act out be-heading breaking the legs of the "Lego" defender thief! its only a car! |

Lego has for years been kit based, but the bits invariably end up in a big box and can be used to create anything the mind wishes for.
Ric, my little girl still uses her Lego lots, in 2 or so years I am sure it will not be used so often, I will check with a few mates with older kids to see if they have any unused stock under their beds. There is an iPod app to create Lego animation videos, I will try to get her to make one of a gang if defender thief s being chased and banged to rights. Hope your lad is well, I noticed that when times are bad for kids they always revert to the good old toys that don't need 13A supplies. Richard 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper |
