mostly radio 1live, but when I'm on longer journeys on my own I switch to the Iphone. Loaded my old 80s CDs like RahBand, Yello, Heaven17, first Depeche albums, Tears for Fears, Queen and so on couple of weeks ago after upgrading the ICE. Led to peeping ears like in good old times

until I get round to improving the standard set up nothing really. Only 'talk' type radio stations. Anyway there are so many more interesting things to listen to. Transit rattle, squeaks, vibrations, bangs, clonks, shimmies, shudders - a veritable symphony of mechanical clatter ! Laughing

I listen to some sort off mechanical music which confirms the lack of a radio in my landy Razz Scaling the real deal.

Music collections are repetitive.
Radio rarely is. Very Happy
My favourite R2 programme is Steve Wright in the Afternoon.
I like folk and folk-rock. There's no button for that anyway.....................?

In my Defender I listen to the engine and try not to dwell on how much fuel it's using to create that lovely sound and heat as a waste product. If I get bored of that I'll put the iPhone on with a suitable heavy metal genius playlist.

In Pam's Defender I used to listen to the engine but since putting an oil burner in it I tend to stick my iPhone on shuffle and see what sort of mix I get from my collection of metal, heavy rock and classic rock.

In my Range Rover it tends to be either Radio 4 or podcasts of Radio 4 programmes. On my monthly trip to Warrington and back across the M62 I often catch up on a couple of weeks of the archers, an addiction I picked up many years ago when I was doing around 50000 miles a year as a support engineer.

I have over 2000 tracks on my iPhone, it takes quite a long journey for that to become repetitive and the inane dribble that pours out of most radio stations just annoys the hell out of me - I even get annoyed when Radio 4 uses some "excuse" to play music on it's various arty shows, hence I always have some music free podcasts available to put on instead.

Edit: Just checked and the music on my iPhone played end to end would last for 6 days, 4 hours, 25 minutes and 49 seconds so no danger of getting repetitive ! Smile http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Good thread!

For me - Mainly Metal. Old stuff (Sabbath etc) and New stuff (screamy shouty death metal etc).
Also rock and folk. Occasionally electronic/rap.
Normally only use radio for 5-live sport coverage. Music collections are only as repetitive as they are small...my own constantly surprises me on shuffle.

Off topic (ish) - Was listening to Tom Petty yesterday and smiled at the 2nd line in this song....

Songs that mention Land Rovers - must be a pretty short list!

Cheers.

Same as that! love dance/uplifting trance. and rock/soft rock/ballads type stuff (Aerosmith, def leppard, G'n'R,Alice Cooper etc)

But also download off of R2 Dave Pearce dance anthems, takes me back to the 90's. download it and stick on the carPC (must have about 60 odd hours of his shows on the hard drive), I just play them when I'm out laning, so it's like listening to the radio, but my favourite stuff. it's funny when the news or weather comes on though, and it's a recording from about 4 months ago Rolling with laughter

Ah yes, but when we are in Australia we will be travelling for about 5 days per week in My Defender for about 14 weeks.....

Even given the 10% or so on my iPhone that is different to his, that is still going to be a lot of repetition! Better learn the art of 'conservation' as well then.... Whistle Whistle Very Happy Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

+1

I don't like music, so prefer Radio 5, sometimes Radio 4, and really like podcasts - Daily Bacon, Mayo & Kermode Film review, Archers, Formula 1 previews/reviews if I've missed the live shows.

For non radio podcasts, I like "The Digital Lifestyle".

I have a computer in my garage, so when working on the Defender I'll use iPlayer radio or Mediamonkey to listen to the above content.

Cheers

Simon
